ACIR Members and Friends,
Please Join us for a Co-sponsored Event!
Please join the Center for European and Transatlantic Studies, Atlanta Council on International Relations and the Consulates of Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom here in Atlanta for an introspective discussion on the recent history of NATO and where the alliance goes from here. In light of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the recent NATO summit, the alliance has been invigorated in a way many thought no longer possible. With this shot in the arm, it begs the question, is this enthusiasm sustainable and where will NATO go from here?
We will have an allied panel of representatives from Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom discussing the alliance's renewed importance in Europe and hopes for the future. A second panel will feature two of the Nunn School's Distinguished Professors of the Practice, Michèle Flournoy and Gen. (Ret.) Philip M. Breedlove, to discuss political and military perspectives on the future of the alliance. This event is part of the Nunn School's Diplomats-in-Residence Program.
The event will take place from 12-2:30pm on Tuesday, September 10th in the Griffin Ballroom at the Georgia Tech Alumni House. Lunch will be served, and parking is available nearby at the Area 1 Visitor Parking Lot. We hope to see you there!
There is no charge for this event.

China Cognitive Warfare
with
Josh Baughman, US National Defense University
Cognitive Warfare is seen as its own domain in modern warfare alongside the four military domains defined by their environment (land, maritime, air and space) and the cyber domain connects them all. Cognitive Warfare operates on a global stage as we are all digitally connected and uses information technology and the tools, machines, networks and systems to seek out it's target: intelligence.
China, as a strategic competitor to NATO, describes Cognitive Warfare as the use of public opinion, psychological operations, and legal influence to achieve victory. Combat psychology has significant impact on the warfighter's ability to function with a focus on recording facial information, emotional changes and psychological states of soldiers to determine their combat status. Outside of the battlefield, influence can also affect law, rule-of-order and civil constructs.
