A Luncheon and Discussion:
on
"The Future of Nato: A Crack in the Alliance?"
with
General (Ret.) Phil Breedlove
Retired Four-Star General, Commander of U.S. European Command, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR)
As we start the year, NATO finds itself in a new precarious position. Internal fracturing, distrust, and pervasive contemptuousness are corroding the alliance that has stood strong for the last 80 years. Former Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (SACEUR), and U.S. European Command Commander General (Ret.) Phil Breedlove will discuss what has sowed this atmosphere of distrust, and how it might affect the future of NATO as a whole.
We will delve into the Russian Federation’s involvement in the current state of NATO outside of the War in Ukraine. Gen (Ret.) Breedlove will explore how Russia is antagonizing the distrust behind the scenes, and NATO’s preparedness to face another act of Russian aggression in the Baltics or elsewhere. It is important to know to what extent the organization is paralyzed by arguments surrounding policy and direction.
Please join us for an invigorating discussion surrounding all of these concerns, and you will have the opportunity to ask the former Supreme Allied Commander in Europe your own pressing questions.

China Cognitive Warfare
with
Josh Baughman, US National Defense University
Cognitive Warfare is seen as its own domain in modern warfare alongside the four military domains defined by their environment (land, maritime, air and space) and the cyber domain connects them all. Cognitive Warfare operates on a global stage as we are all digitally connected and uses information technology and the tools, machines, networks and systems to seek out it's target: intelligence.
China, as a strategic competitor to NATO, describes Cognitive Warfare as the use of public opinion, psychological operations, and legal influence to achieve victory. Combat psychology has significant impact on the warfighter's ability to function with a focus on recording facial information, emotional changes and psychological states of soldiers to determine their combat status. Outside of the battlefield, influence can also affect law, rule-of-order and civil constructs.
